SONS CEO RESPONDS TO COMMENTS

Monday 18th September 2017

IN response tocomments attributed to the Brechin City Manager Darren Dods in yesterday’s Sunday Mail match report, we spoke to Sons Chief Executive Frank Meade to clarify the situation.

Frank said : “The showers in both the match officials and home dressing rooms operated normally.

“However, the hot water kill switch button for the showers in the away dressing room was switched off, possibly inadvertently by a Brechin player or official, resulting in the absence of hot water.

“Only Brechin City staff had access to the away dressing room.

“The apparent absence of hot water was brought to the attention of David Douglas, our Safety Officer and he immediately dealt with the situation and reset the switch.”

Frank also commented on the complaint about post-game hospitality.

He continued: “With regard to the absence of post-match food for the Brechin City players, Dumbarton FC is one of several Championship Clubs who do not routinely provide this.

“It is disappointing that Mr Dods subsequently made the comments attributed to him in the Sunday Mail without checking his facts and in a very public manner.

“The sequence of events has been discussed with Brechin City and we now consider the matter closed.”
