SONS BOOSTED BY WIN OVER CLYDE

Saturday 30th April 2022

DUMBARTON’S scheduled league season has ended today with a morale-boosting 2-1 win at home to Clyde.

Dumbarton opened the scoring after 11 minutes when Kristoffer Syvertsen controlled a pass from Sam Muir, spun away from a defender and slotted home.

But right on half time, slack defending by Sons allowed Lewis Jamieson the chance to equalise from a narrow angle.

After an uninspiring second half, Sons’ second goal was scored with eight minutes remaining through Gregg Wylde (pictured) after Josh Oyinsan and then Syvertsen played him in.

However, Oyinsan was then the victim of a wild tackle by Kevin Nicoll, a challenge which saw the ex-Sons man sent off.

All roads now lead to Ainslie Park for Tuesday night’s playoff semi-final first leg against Edinburgh City away from home.
