SONS ANNOUNCE NEW YOUTH INTAKE

Wednesday 25th June 2014

SONS youth development department had a busy night at the Bet Butler Stadium on Wednesday with the new intake of the under-13s for the season ahead.

18 squad members along with their parents enjoyed a lively welcome introduction to life at Dumbarton FC by head of youth Tony Gervaise.

Each player then proceeded to sign registration forms to officially become our new stars of the future.

Jon Haughie, coach of the 13s youth team, is excited to start working with the young players.

He said: “It’s a big day for the lads and their families. It’s a proud day when they see their sons going into professional football for the first time.

“This is the bottom of the ladder but they are the chosen ones as we think, following our recent trials, this group of lads can go far.

“I fully expect the boys to graduate through the ranks as the years go on. There is a lot of talent ths year.”

Tony Gervaise echoed Jon’s thoughts by adding: “The trials proved that there is still an appetite amongst young lads to play football.

“At Dumbarton we have a professional structure with excellent coaches and as we pointed out at the welcome meeting, if the boys show the right attitude there is no reason why they can’t have a successful career in the game.”
