THEY were sworn enemies the last time they shared a pitch in a league match.
And in their battle, one man firmly claimed the bragging rights.
But now Christian Nade is a team-mate of goalkeeper Scott Gallacher, against whom he scored a hat-trick for Dumbarton against Alloa in March 2016.
The Frenchman hopes for more goals for Sons in the coming season – and who better to assist him with finishing practice in training than the man he scored his only career treble past?
Christian, though, is well aware of his team-mate’s ability, and is hopeful that while Scott does the business at one end of the pitch, he can take care of his role at the other.
He told www.dumbartonfootballclub.com: “Scott is a really good goalkeeper and some of the saves he makes are just amazing.
“We lost Alan Martin at the end of last season, but I feel that we now have a keeper who is as good as him.
“We’ve worked hard to bring him here and he’s good with his feet as well, which can only be a good thing.
“But I got three goals against him that night, and hopefully I can score more past other keepers in this campaign.”
Christian, whose pre-season goal against Partick Thistle was his first since the birth of his son Joshua in March is about to start a league season with Dumbarton for the first time.
After a positive pre-season campaign, he is now aiming for things to get off to a good start in the Championship, starting against Morton tomorrow.
He added: “It’s too early to say how things will shape up, but what we need is to try to get off to a good start.
“Compared to last season, we need to get as many points on the board as we can in the early stages.
“These include points at home, as we need to do well in our home fixtures if we are to achieve our goal.
“I think we have a good team, although some other players will come in and complete it, and we are all looking forward to it.”
