ALLY ROY still pictures it like it was yesterday.
Seven minutes when, in front of more than 6,000 fans, he made it into an SPFL Championship match for the first time.
He won’t get to revisit the venue, but he hopes the experience will regularly repeat itself with Dumbarton.
Nearly three years ago, Ally made his first-team debut for Hearts as a late substitute in a 4-0 win away to Raith Rovers.
It’s one of the highlights of his career so far – but who knows, perhaps he could emulate it with Sons?
He’s certainly going to give it a go.
Ally told www.dumbartonfootballclub.com as part of #sons24: “I imagine the Championship will be a bigger challenge than League One, which I played in last season.
“But hopefully I can take it in my stride, perform to the best of my ability and score a few goals.
“There have been a few highlights in my career already – making my debut for the Hearts first team, and getting to the Scottish Youth Cup final the season before that.
“Hopefully I can add to those during my time with Dumbarton.
“Every team in the league has a chance of doing well, and pushing for whatever they want to achieve.
“It all depends how you get on. Hopefully we can start off well and see where it takes us.
“I know a few of the players already from playing against them, but I’ve got to know them all and they are a good group.”
