Sold out dinner celebrates 25 years of memories
Twenty-five years of Dumbarton FC playing beside Dumbarton Rock were celebrated on a sold-out evening at the Marbill Coaches Stadium on Saturday.
The celebration dinner was a fantastic evening, with supporter Robert Ryan in the chair, supported by his fellow Sons fan David Carson and renowned speaker John Gahagan.
Well over 100 people enjoyed a three-course meal supplied by Alex Graham Catering, and drinks supplied by our in-house bar team, before enjoying the talents of the two speakers.
David, or ‘Kit’ as he is better known, gave a witty and humorous recollection of the stadium’s first quarter century, which started in December 2000.
John, meanwhile, showed exactly why he is one of Scotland’s most popular after-dinner speakers with an unscripted 45-minute set which had the audience in stitches.
Further income was raised through games played on the night, as well as an auction which included a fourball at Mar Hall Golf Club, hospitality at DFC, and a signed pair of Liam Kelly’s gloves, which were kindly supplied by Liam’s younger brother Shay.
It was a fitting way to mark 25 years at the stadium, and many thanks are extended to all who organised, took part in, attended and catered at the evening. The club is hugely grateful to you all for your support.
Our Burns Supper is next on Friday, January 30. Supporters are invited to pencil that date into their diaries and watch out for tickets going on sale in due course.
