DUMBARTON were cruelly denied at least an extra 30 minutes in the latest of late twists in today’s Irn Bru Cup final against Inverness CT.
Sons battled bravely and created chances in the first half, with Iain Russell missing with a header in the closest call.
As players started to tire, Caley Thistle stepped things up and with eight minutes to go were awarded a penalty for handball by Chris McLaughlin.
But Scott Gallacher (pictured) made an excellent save from Iain Vigurs.
There was nothing he could do, though, when Carl Tremarco tapped home a low ball at the back post.
Sons now switch their attention back to the battle for survival in the Championship, which is very much alive.
Their next game is on Tuesday evening, away to league leaders St Mirren.
Full report, reaction, photos and Sons TV to follow.
