Dumbarton Football Club are delighted to announce that club captain Mark Durnan has extended his contract at the Rock until the end of the 2024/25 season.
The 31-year-old joined the club in the summer after a successful career in Scotland with the likes of Dundee United, Falkirk and Queen of the South.
The Sons skipper has found himself sidelined in recent months due to an ongoing knee injury, however he has undergone a small operation in the past week and is expected to return to action in 4-6 weeks.
The centre-half played 16 times for the club prior to his injury with boss Stevie Farrell delighted to get him tied down for another 12 months.
He told the clubs website: “I am thrilled that Mark has committed to the club longer term as prior to his injury he had proven to be one of the best defenders in the division.
“We have been given assurances by the medical team that the tidy up operation that he has recently underwent will remedy his knee issue, so to get him committed to the club longer term is pleasing.
“We’re looking forward to seeing him back on the pitch for what is hopefully a successful end to the season.”
