DUMBARTON’S 100 per cent start to the league season has continued with a 1-0 win away to East Fife this afternoon.
With a strong wind favouring East Fife in the first half, clearcut chances were few and far between for either side in the opening part of the game.
But with 10 minutes left of the first half, Ryan Blair sent Declan Byrne (pictured) clear with a brilliant through ball, and the striker fired home his fifth goal of the season.
A minute later, another shot by Byrne rolled against the post.
In the second half, now playing with the wind, Sons were in search of a second goal, with Finlay Gray, Byrne and Blair each going close.
East Fife threw men forward in the later stages of the game and Sons were relieved to see a swerving Taylor Steven effort hit the crossbar with seven minutes left.
But the resistance remained, and it is now six wins out of six.
Dumbarton are away from home again next Saturday, travelling southwest this time to face Stranraer at Stair Park.
