Two goals in the second-half earned Dumbarton victory at Forfar this afternoon.

In an afternoon that the wind had an impact on, both sides battled through the conditions with Sons having the better of the chances.

James Hilton had three efforts that were either kept out by Marc McCallum or whistled by the post and at the other end Jay Hogarth had to be on his toes to keep out a couple of wind assisted crosses.

After the break, the visitors were awarded a penalty in the first 10 minutes of the half when Finlay Gray was brought down and Tony Wallace scored from the spot.

Kalvin Orsi thought he had added a second on 79 minutes when he slotted in a loose ball but after discussing with his assistant, the referee ruled out the goal.

Just a few minutes later the points were sealed when Carlo Pignatiello drilled a shot into the bottom corner after Forfar failed to clear their lines.

The result sees Dumbarton move eight points clear of fifth place in the race for the play-offs and level on points with Peterhead in second place with four games remaining.
