WHEN you purchase a season ticket for Dumbarton, you are not only ensuring admission to 18 league matches over the next nine months.
You are giving yourself a chance to witness moments that you will remember years, even decades, down the line.
We don’t know when these will happen. We just know that they will.
Every Dumbarton fan has a story to tell about when the bug REALLY bit them following their local team.
And we want to use these stories to help convince more fans to join the Sons of the Rock.
The story below was submitted to us by supporter Tom Don, who even years later, still remembers this as a special game.
Dumbarton v Berwick Rangers – Saturday 5th December 1964 (date verified by the Sons Archive)
“I’m getting old. I can’t remember when it was. I remember it was at Boghead, and I remember, I was there.
“We were in the second half. Berwick Rangers were leading us by 0-4. The faithful were not leaving, and I remember, I was there.
“First one goal pulled back, then two, then three. At 3-4 the atmosphere was electric, and I remember, I was there.
“As time was running out – a penalty to the Sons! The home crowd were holding their breaths in anticipation, and I remember, I was there.
“Up stepped Chic Halliday to level. Final score 4-4 ! What a comeback! And I remember, I was there.”
Does this, and our other story featured yesterday, inspire you? We hope so.
Buy or renew a season ticket for Dumbarton and, like Tom, you will have your own special moment at the football to recall many years later.
If you ARE already a season ticket holder and HAVE already renewed, thank you for your continued support. Now there is something else for you to do – bring a pal.
Let your football-loving friends know that there’s a place in their hometown where dreams and memories are made, with more to come. Let them know there is so much to be gained from supporting Dumbarton, and that we’d LOVE to have their support.
If you ARE already a season ticket holder and HAVEN’T renewed yet, we trust that you will renew and we look forward to your return. And as above – bring a pal if you can!
If you AREN’T a season ticket holder, or are one of the pals that we ask our current season ticket holders to bring – please do come along. As a taster, we have our home Betfred Cup ties, which are pay at the gate anyway. Hopefully the bug will bite you there and then, but if not, keep coming – because one day, it will.
Thank you for your support.
