Scott Honeyman remains at The Rock
Reigning Sonstrust Young Player of the Year Scott Honeyman has committed his future to Dumbarton, signing a new one-year deal with the club.
The 20-year-old was a man in demand after a breakthrough campaign at The Rock – sponsored by Marbill Coaches, where he netted 13 times in 46 appearances after joining from Falkirk.
Now he’ll have a chance to build on that in the new season, turning down offers from elsewhere to extend his time in G82 – and meeting back up with his teammates at Sons’ Glasgow training base this morning.
Boss Frank McKeown said: “It’s excellent news that Scott has decided to remain a Dumbarton player, and we’re all looking forward to working with him again.
“You saw the growth in him week-on-week throughout the course of the season as he adapted and dealt with all the demands required to be a regular starter in the SPFL.
“His quality on the ball, his workrate and his eye for goal meant that he was understandably a man in demand over the summer, however it speaks volumes about the environment we’ve created that Scott sees his future here. I’m delighted that we’ve been able to keep him at the club and I look forward to helping him develop even further next season.”
