SCOTT Linton could not hide his delight at becoming Sons latest recruit for the 2013/14 campaign
The 23-year-old defender agreed a one-year deal after spending six years at first division rivals Cowdenbeath.
Glasgow born Scott, who now lives in Edinburgh and was once on the books of Hibs as a youngster, is desperate to get his career at the Bet Butler stadium underway.
He said: “When I became aware of Ian’s interest in me I had to speak to him, and after that conversation I knew I just had to come to Dumbarton.
“I was impressed with his plans for the team and I feel I can fit in with the Dumbarton squad, plus I needed a fresh challenge after spending quite a bit of time at Cowden.
“Pre-season is just around the corner and I’m desperate to get started, but I’ll mss the first week as I’ll be on holiday in Las Vegas. I’m sure I’ll be able to catch up.”
Scott also praised the reputation the Sons have in the game.
“When Ian came to Dumbarton he introduced many things that full-time clubs do and the level of professionalism is excellent,” he said. “When I was given the chance to come play for him, I couldn’t turn it down.
“The stadium too is a good place to play, and with the quality of the squad that is being built we can make a good go of building on what happened last season. I can’t wait to get started.”
