WE have two match sponsors for Saturday’s game against Albion Rovers, including one in tribute to a Sons fan who sadly passed away last year.
Jackson Boyd Lawyers are one of the match sponsors, with business development director John Lawrie organising in honour of his late brother-in-law, Gordon McGhee.
Gordon (pictured) was a dedicated supporter who, during the Covid-19 lockdown, travelled from his home in Edinburgh to volunteer at the club, even during days when there were no games.
He sadly passed away on Christmas Eve 2021.
John said: “Gordon was a loyal Dumbarton season ticket holder who attended the games with his brother Ian.
“Originally born in the Dumbarton are he moved with his family to Edinburgh in his early teens. However, having attended a Dumbarton game at a very young age with his uncle, he continued to support them home and away throughout his lifetime.
“Indeed, during Covid-19 he Ian attended as volunteer’s at Dumbarton where they spent happy days painting the changing rooms and dugouts as well as general ‘tidying up’.
“I cannot speak highly enough of Gordon and his sad passing has had an incredible impact on our family and extended community where he was a volunteer in the Midlothian area.”
Everybody at Dumbarton FC shares the same fond memories of Gordon. We thank John and his colleagues for their sponsorship of the match and we hope they have a great day on Saturday.
Our other match sponsor is long-time Sons fan and chair of the Sons Supporters Trust, David Brownlee.
David has supported Dumbarton all his life and has assisted the club in many ways through sponsorship and support at home and away matches.
His support too is very much appreciated and we look forward to welcoming him and his party to hospitality on Saturday.
