SAM RAMSBOTTOM JOINS DUMBARTON

Thursday 18th March 2021

GOALKEEPER Sam Ramsbottom has tonight become a Dumbarton player until the end of the season, signing a contract at training.

The 24-year-old started out with his local club, Tranmere Rovers, who loaned him out to several clubs before he moved across the Irish Sea with Galway United.

He then returned to England with Barrow, Macclesfield Town and Alfreton Town before moving north to play for Morton in season 2019/20.

Having turned out for Sons as a trialist in Saturday’s friendly with Stranraer, manager Jim Duffy has moved to offer him a deal.

The gaffer said: “Signing another goalkeeper was important as Joshua Bradley-Hurst has an injury.

“Sam has played in the Championship and that has helped him familiarise with SPFL football. He’s really keen to do well and will be important for us in the remainder of the season.”

We’ll have an interview with Sam on our website imminently.
