RESULTS GO AGAINST SONS

Saturday 13th April 2013

DUMBARTON’S free weekend has proved costly by default, with teams around Ian Murray’s men in the First Division table picking up points.

Cowdenbeath and Dunfermline Athletic both won their matches, while Airdrie United lost 2-1 to Champions elect Partick Thistle, a result that relegates the Diamonds to SFL2.

The Pars, who had been docked 15 points by the Scottish Football League after going into administration, beat Morton by a single goal to get within three points of the Sons.

Meanwhile, Cowdenbeath leapfrog Sons into seventh place after their 1-0 win against Raith Rovers, drawing level on 33 points, but having a superior goal difference.

Sons now face Scottish Cup semi-finalists Falkirk this coming Tuesday (16th April), at the Falkirk Stadium, in what will be a crucial match.
