RESPONSE SHOWS CLUB’S TRUE SPIRIT

Wednesday 24th September 2014

THE true spirit of Dumbarton FC was shown as fans, players, directors and staff came together to mourn the loss of a special friend this week.

Young Kirsty Mackie, who died unexpectedly the weekend before last, was remembered fondly by family and friends at a moving funeral in Cardross on Wednesday 24th September.

Writer Andy Galloway, who has reported on the club’s activities for many years in the local press, and has penned a book on its recent achievements, said the service was “a very nice tribute to her.”

Commenting on social media, he said: “Today, although a very sad occasion, was yet another example of the spirit that makes Dumbarton FC so special.

“Several fans were joined by manager Ian Murray, players and directors at the funeral of Kirsty Mackie. A reflection of what an integral part of the club and support Kirsty was.”
