ON Sunday, media attention turned from the Scottish Cup Final and the Champions League Final to the game all Sons fans regarded as the really Big One – the Irn Bru SFL First Division Play-off Final second leg at New Broomfield.
Four buses and a large contingent of Dumbarton fans travelling by train and car ensured maximum backing for the team in its moment of promotion triumph, gaining a place in the First Division for season 2012/13 after 16 years’ absence.
The game was shown live on BBC Alba. The first leg on Wednesday 16th May can still be viewed on the BBC iPlayer until this Wednesday evening, while Sunday’s match is available for replay until the coming weekend.
Meanwhile, regular DFC social media assistant Jack Crawford’s live tweets were a record of all the action as it happened at the Excelsior Stadium.
Simon Barrow’s match summary was published as the final whistle blew. His full match report and Donald Fullarton’s exclusive photos are also online now. (The report from the first leg can be viewed here.)
Gary Black filmed the great occasion for Sons Player, as usual, bringing you key highlights and celebrations.
Our local papers, the Lennox Herald and the Dumbarton Reporter, will be sharing all the match reaction over the coming week, too.
So whether you’re able to be at the game or not, you will have been able to enjoy a ringside seat for the Sons’ big day!
