RAMSBOTTOM RETURNS

Saturday 12th June 2021

GOALKEEPER Sam Ramsbottom is back at Dumbarton for another year after completing a new deal with the club today.

He signed for the club in March, when the season shutdown ended, and kept five clean sheets in 17 games as part of the club’s successful push for survival.

There were also other games where although not keeping a clean sheet, Sam hugely impressed, most notably in the Scottish Cup tie against Aberdeen in April on his 25th birthday.

Sam had previously turned out for various English clubs after starting his career with Tranmere Rovers, before playing for Morton in season 2019/20.

He had to sit out a lot of last season after the Covid-19 pandemic put paid to a move abroad, but Sons gave him the opportunity to play and he has now extended his stay with the club.

Sam is currently down south, but has completed all paperwork electronically and his new deal is confirmed.

Manager Stevie Farrell said: “I have seen first hand what a capable goalkeeper Sam is, having seen him keep two clean sheets against Stranraer last season.

“He’ll be back in Scotland to take part in training and friendly matches, and we look forward to working with him.”

Look out for an interview with Sam on the club website over the weekend.
