RAITH STEAL THE POINTS FROM SONS

Tuesday 9th April 2013

DUMBARTON lost out 2-1 to Raith Rovers at the Bet Butler Stadium this evening, having looked as if they had fought their way back into the game with 20 minutes to go.

After an opening spell where they appeared comfortably in charge, Sons went behind to Rovers’ first serious attempt on goal when Greig Spence capitalised on a defensive mix-up to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

After the break, Dumbarton started to look more lively. On 70 minutes a superb rising strike from Mark Gilhaney provided the equaliser.

However, just five minutes later Sons were caught out by a bursting attack down the right and Brian Graham put Raith back into the lead.

Dumbarton could not find a way back after that reverse but, following a busy few weeks, they will have a break on Saturday before returning to action on the road to Falkirk on Tuesday 16th April.
