DUMBARTON and Queen’s Park have agreed to cancel their friendly match at Lesser Hampden on Thursday evening.

Manager Stevie Aitken said: “It’s a disappointing decision to have to reach, but we feel it is for the best, all things considered.

“When we arranged four friendlies in a week we didn’t expect the heat we have had. Some players have played 90 minutes in the heat twice in 48 hours and are feeling it.

“We also have a few players nursing minor knocks which we don’t want to risk in a non-competitive game.

“So we felt it would be best to cancel Thursday and concentrate on facing Hearts on Saturday.”

The teams will not have to wait long to face each other as Queens visit the C&G Systems Stadium in the Betfred Cup on Tuesday, July 17.
