PRUNTY GOAL SCOOPS NATIONAL AWARD

Sunday 5th May 2013

BRYAN Prunty’s stunning overhead kick against Livingston on 9th February has been voted the Professional Footballers Association Scotland Goal of the Season 2013 by supporters across the country.

The Dumbarton striker received his richly deserved prize on the glittering occasion of the PFA Scotland Awards ceremony at Hampden Park this evening.

Bryan’s super-strike, preceded by a fine build up, has been a global internet hit for the past three months.

Up against nine other nominees from the SFL and the SPL (including Celtic’s Georgios Samaras, St Johnstone’s Nigel Hasselbaink and Hibernian’s Leigh Griffiths), the Sons hero won 30 per cent of the popular vote – getting on for twice as many as his nearest rival.

The Prunty goal also featured on the Soccer AM television show, alongside efforts from the likes of Ronaldo and Van Persie.

This is the second consecutive award for Bryan, who also picked up the Sons ‘Goal of the Season’ last night, as Dumbarton supporters, players and staff celebrated an extraordinary season with their ‘Party at the Rock’.

Everyone connected with Dumbarton FC sends their heartiest congratulations!
