PREVIEW: DUMBARTON v ST MIRREN COLTS

Monday 12th August 2019

SONS take on St Mirren Colts in the second round of the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Cup tomorrow evening (Tuesday 13 August). Kick-off is 7.45pm at the C&G Systems Stadium.

The young Buddies make the trip over the Erskine Bridge for the match, having defeated Lowland League side East Kilbride in the First Round thanks to Cammy Breadner’s decisive strike.

For Jim Duffy’s Dumbarton side it is an opportunity not just to progress in a national cup competition, but also to regroup and claim back their pride following a wounding SPFL League One at Falkirk on Saturday.

Sons were famously finalists in the Scottish Challenge Cup back in 2017/18, narrowly losing out to Inverness Caledonian Thistle by a single goal in front of 4,602 people at McDiarmid Park.

“We have to try and improve and improve quickly,” declared gaffer Duffy forthrightly after the heavy Falkirk defeat.

“We’ve all got to take our share of responsibility and it will ultimately fall on the manager, so I take full responsibility for that, he added.

But the team are not despondent, believing that they can and will bounce back in this game and away in league action again at Peterhead this coming Saturday.

The entrance prices for the Tunnock’s Cup tie are: Adults – £10; Concessions – £5; Under 16s – Free.

Entrance for away fans will be via the Home gates, and the bar in the Community Suite will be open before the match.

Copies of our award-winning match-day programme, Sons View will be available at the game, priced £2.50.
