DFC Community Stadium Company Ltd and Denny’s Homes Ltd are holding a joint public exhibition of their proposals for the relocation of Dumbarton Football Club and redevelopment of the existing stadium site.
The exhibition will be held at Dumbarton Football Club, Castle Road, Dumbarton between 11.00 a.m – 7.00 p.m on Thursday 6th November 2014, and between 11.00 a.m – 5.00 p.m on Friday 7th November 2014, where members of the project team will be on hand to explain the plans and hear any comments.
The proposals make provision for the relocation of DFC from their existing Castle Road site, to a new location at Young’s Farm to the west of Dumbarton (bounded by the River Leven to east, A82 to north and railway line to west).
The Club’s plans for a new stadium comprise:
• 4,000 capacity football stadium including 3,000 seats and 1,000 terracing that can be delivered in separate phases;
• Hospitality accommodation and complementary non-football related uses;
• Dedicated training facilities and additional playing pitches for community use;
• Access off the A82 slip road; and
• Car and coach parking.
The plans also include the redevelopment of the existing stadium site for approximately 180 houses and flats, together with the development of a riverside walkway which will eventually link Dumbarton town centre with Dumbarton Castle.
A spokesman for DFC said: ”We have been looking for a new stadium site for a long time, and are excited that we are now finally in a position to go public with our relocation plans. We are confident that the proposals will provide firm foundations for the future of DFC.
“The new stadium will not only provide a modern, high quality sporting facility that meets our playing and training needs, but will importantly create the opportunity to generate additional non-football related income and help to put the Club at the heart of the local community.”
The spokesman added: “We look forward to discussing our plans with our supporters and local residents on the 6th and 7th November, before submitting the planning applications early in the New Year.”
