THE pre-season build-up continues for Dumbarton tomorrow with a closed door friendly at home to Motherwell.
Sons started the programme of friendlies on Tuesday with a match away to East Kilbride, which was a positive workout despite the 2-1 defeat.
It is now on to the first of three consecutive friendlies at home, with Morton and Clydebank set to visit the Rock in front of our supporters. Tomorrow’s game, however, is strictly behind closed doors.
Manager Stevie Farrell is looking for things to gradually move forward over the coming week ahead of the first competitive fixture at home to St Mirren two weeks tomorrow.
He said: “We came away from East Kilbride having tried new options and seen how various methods worked with our new-look squad.
“We expect to finish tomorrow’s game having learned even more about our squad, who will be well-tested against a top side in Motherwell.
“Although the important thing about tomorrow is that our players have more minutes in the tank, a positive result can only help and we’ll do our best to get one.
“We know that we remain a work in progress and need to add to our squad ahead of the new season. We’re continuing to work hard on all fronts and we know we’ll get a good workout tomorrow.”
Stuart Carswell, Paul Paton and Pat Boyle are all carrying knocks ahead of tomorrow’s game and may not be risked.
As with Tuesday’s match, a number of trialists will feature in the squad to boost the numbers and to let Stevie look at potential signings in action.
As per our earlier story, unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we are unable to live stream the game tomorrow.
You can follow the action as it happens through our Twitter updates @dumbartonfc, and the usual post-match coverage will be available here on the club website after the game.
Don’t forget it’s a noon kick-off.
