Tuesday 24th July 2012
DUMBARTON created many chances, but could not find a way past St Mirren’s youngsters, in an attractive game of summer evening football that ended in a 0-0 draw at the Rock this evening.
In a first half of flowing manoeuvres from Sons, there were several good scoring opportunities and a number of skilful attacking moves – but in the end, no breakthrough at either end.
Sons’ pre-break attacking dominance was marked by eight corners, the seventh of which produced a determined header from Alan Lithgow and an equally fine save from the visiting ‘keeper Grant Adam.
More good chances were created after the break, as Dumbarton continued to control the game tenaciously against an experimental Buddies’ outfit.
Sons will be hoping to show more silky skills against Queen of the South in the Ramsden’s Cup on Saturday 28th July, but also to match them with some clinical finishing.
