THE beautiful game is sometimes described as poetry in motion, and a new Sons signing will be documenting DFC’s fortunes in prose.
Poet Stephen Watt will be the club’s new poet in residence and the wordsmith’s work will appear in the Sons View and here on the club’s website.
Stephen, a lifelong DFC supporter, is the author of the poetry collection Spit and Optograms.
He was crowned the Poetry Rivals Slam Champion in Peterborough in 2011 and has performed widely across the UK, including the Edinburgh Festival.
Commenting on his voluntary appointment, Stephen said : “Being given the opportunity to write about my hometown club is a privilege.
“I aspire to write observations about more than just what the team is doing on the pitch, encapsulating the club as a whole, and teasing out those features which makes Dumbarton Football Club so special.”
As a flavour of his work, Stephen’s poem ‘Boghead’, an ode to Sons long established former home can be found here.
A warm welcome to Stephen, from everyone at Dumbarton FC.
