Peter joined Dumbarton on loan from Clyde at the end of January 2023 until the end of the season, with Ryan McGeever moving the other way, also on loan.

The son of the ex-Celtic defender of the same name, he made his real breakthrough at senior level with Falkirk in season 2014/15. He scored the Bairns’ equalising goal in that season’s Scottish Cup final, although they lost 2-1 to Inverness CT.

Spells down south with Plymouth Argyle and Carlisle United followed before a return to Scotland with Morton.

His next stop was Queen’s Park, with whom he won promotion from League Two in season 2020/21 and then again from League One the following year.

He then left the Spiders to sign for Clyde during the 2022 close season.
