DUMBARTON FC are pleased to confirm that players on contract until 30th June 2020 have now had them extended until 31st July 2020.
Further decisions will be made as decisions emerge about the shape of a restart for League One.
In the meantime, the Club has an active Retart Group which has been working on necessary preparations for several weeks. We will say more about this activity shortly.
Sons’ chairman, John Steele, commented: “There has been a good deal of discussion about the resumption of football across Scottish football.
“However, we are still not in a position to be able to plan with certainty right now. This means that our players are in the same position.
“We are also needing to talk further with manager Jim Duffy as he recovers from his recent time in hospital.
“In these circumstances, we are continuing to use the government furlough scheme, and we are keen to give as much assurance and support to our players as possible. Contract extensions are an important part of this.
“Meanwhile, we continue to thank all our players, staff and supporters for their patience and cooperation. It is truly valued.
“The financial challenges are still very much there for the Club, of course. But with the donations and fundraising playing an important role, we are continuing to work on our plans to stay afloat and hopefully to come out of lockdown in a manageable way.”
