IT could be as little as seven weeks before Dumbarton are back in match action.
Some of Scotland’s clubs have already announced they will start their friendly action on Saturday, June 25, and Sons boss Stevie Aitken is currently planning the pre-season schedule.
But the gaffer admitted there will be no pre-season trek to northeast England, which he previously took his Stranraer squad on to build up to a new campaign.
He said: “There is no news on that at the moment. We are still working on it and talking to teams, some of whom are still finishing their season.
“With the new League Cup due to start on Saturday, July 16, we are having to cut back on how many friendlies we play.
“Finances will dictate what we can do, and because of that and the limited number of dates, we are not in a position to go away like we have with Stranraer in the past.
“But it is something we may look into next year.”
