DUMBARTON FC wishes to apologise for the condition of our playing surface for Saturday’s game at home to Alloa Athletic.
After severe weather during the week which included two named storms, our groundsman Jim Paton worked hard to get the pitch playable.
During the pitch inspection on the morning of the match, several areas of the pitch were soft and required to be filled with sand. It was then declared playable by the match referee.
However, this does not change the fact our pitch needs to be in a better condition than we were able to make it on Saturday.
The pitch will not be used again at all until our next home game, against Queen’s Park on Saturday, March 5.
Work has already started to restore the pitch to a more acceptable condition for that game, such as it is possible within the timescale, and will continue over the coming days.
Jim will lead this work, and we truly appreciate the work of him and his team amid the challenge of keeping our pitch playable.
