DUMBARTON’S new-look squad enjoyed a 3-1 victory over East Kilbride in their first outing together at the K-Park today.
In front about 150 fans who ignored the France v Argentina World Cup tie to catch the action in baking heat, Sons took the lead on 31 minutes.
New signing Ryan Thomson showed some fine skill only to see his shot saved, but Calum Gallagher scored from the rebound.
Thomson got his goal six minutes after the restart, finishing after Cammy Ballantyne put in a low ball from the right.
Paul Woods headed one back for East Kilbride on the hour mark and that prompted his team to apply pressure for what was left of the game.
But Sons sealed it in injury time when trialist Kieran Campbell squared for Iain Russell, also a trialist, to score the third.
Dumbarton return to action on Monday away to Cumbernauld Colts.
