NO SPOT DUTY FOR CRAIG

Monday 9th April 2018

CRAIG BARR insists that there was no chance of him stepping up to the spot to claim a hat-trick on Saturday had the opportunity presented itself.

The centre half had already bagged the first double of his playing career, including what proved to be the winner for Dumbarton in Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Dundee United.

But had Sons been given a penalty later in the day, he wouldn’t have followed the example of several footballers and chased the match ball.

When asked what would have happened in that situation, his reply was: “No chance! I’d have bottled it!

“But it’s good to get a couple of goals and keep the spirits high. It is a good result and performance.

“To be pegged back twice and still win the game showed the battling qualities we have in the team.

“With Falkirk losing as well, it was a good outcome for us and now we have a platform to get a run of results together.

“The run of fixtures we’re in the middle of isn’t ideal after the cup run, but we are getting on with it and trying to move forward.

“We’ll just take it one game at a time, and we’ll continue to do that against Morton on Tuesday.”
