Dumbarton Football Club can reveal that a local football team are set to make the step up towards the clubs youth academy next season.

Haldane United 2008’s, who currently play in the First Division of the Paisley and Johnstone District League, will become Dumbarton FC under-17’s ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Haldane 2009’s will also link up and represent the Sons at under-16 level.

The move is the latest in a long line of positive steps made for the clubs development sides in recent months with the under-20’s playing in the West of Scotland Football Development League for the first time whilst Alan McDevitt and David Lyden came on board as part of the scouting setup.

Head of Youth Development Gordon Scanlan said: “I’m delighted to extend the academy with the 2008 and 2009 age groups at Haldane coming on board under the DFC wing from next season.

“This is another step towards the development of our academy, and I would like to thank the teams for their willingness to engage and come on board.

We will continue to support all of the local clubs and develop partnerships which can only benefit DFC and the local community as a whole.”
