DUMBARTON returned to match action in a friendly with Stranraer at Holm Park in Clydebank, a match which ended 2-1 to the Blues.
Sons led 1-0 at the break through a fine finish by Jaime Wilson (pictured) and were unlucky not to be ahead by more.
After a raft of changes which included three trialists, one of them a goalkeeper, Dumbarton continued to explore new options in the second 45 minutes.
Stranraer overhauled the lead with goals by Tom Devitt and James Hilton and led 2-1 until the end.
Dumbarton started the match lining up: Smith; Wardrop, McGeever, Neill, Quitongo, Langan, Forbes, Wedderburn, Frizzell, Wilson, Jones.
The second half team saw the trialist goalkeeper with the same back four. Stuart Carswell, PJ Crossan and Stefan McCluskey were given a run-out after the restart while there was a first game in a Sons shirt for Tomas Brindley. Two other trialists completed the second half line-up.
Attention now turns to the return to league action next Saturday at home to Forfar Athletic.
