THE Rev Grant Hamilton is Dumbarton’s new club chaplain, having had everything finalised for his appointment to the post today.
Grant has been an ordained minister since 2011 after working for 20 years in Social Work. That included spending the final six years before his ordination working in North Africa for a Christian development organisation with some of the poorest people in that region.
Grant has university degrees in Modern History and Theology and holds a Certificate of Qualification in Social Work.
Before becoming chaplain at Dumbarton, Grant was chaplain for six seasons at Queen of the South.
Since becoming a chaplain, Grant has completed training in Mental Health First Aid and suicide intervention as well as participating in regular training events provided by Sports Chaplaincy UK / Scotland.
Grant is married to Geraldine and they have three grown up children. The family all live locally in the Silverton area of Dumbarton.
Everybody at Dumbarton FC warmly welcomes Grant to the club.
