NEW Dumbarton FC chaplain, Grant Hamilton, has told BBC Scotland about how he sees his role, recounting his experience in the game.
Grant spoke to the BBC alongside Mark Fleming, Director of the Sports Chaplaincy Scotland organisation.
“It made sense for me to be involved with a local football club,” the new Sons chaplain told the broadcaster.
“I am minister of Dumbarton Baptist Church, and we are part of the fabric of the community.”
Grant is now within walking distance to the stadium he is based at, allowing him to be involved in community affairs as well as spending time with the club.
He has also taken on the role of Child Protection and Wellbeing Officer, and welcomes the commitment the club has shown.
“Dumbarton have signed an agreement with Sports Chaplaincy Scotland that sets out the standards that are expected,” Grant Hamilton adds.
Chaplaincy aims at offering appropriate pastoral support and guidance where it is needed, regardless of religion or belief.
