Michael Doyle stays a Son

Michael Doyle has extended his time at The Rock – sponsored by Marbill Coaches, signing a new one year deal.

The defender, 34, joined from Cove Rangers on deadline day, quickly becoming a key player for boss Frank McKeown – even wearing the armband at stages during the second half of the campaign.

Now the former Alloa Athletic, Hamilton Academical, Greenock Morton and St Johnstone man has committed his future to Dumbarton ahead of the new William Hill League 2 campaign.

Gaffer Frank McKeown said: “Michael’s influence both on the park and in the dressing room was vital last season, and I’m delighted he has signed an extension.

“He’s a born leader, someone who is great at bringing people together and a player who sets standards for the rest of the group. With Michael joining Ali Omar and Kristian Webster in signing up, we’re delighted with how our defence is shaping up and we will have more news in that area very soon.”
