Michael Doyle has become Dumbarton’s fifth new signing of the January window, joining from League 1 Cove Rangers on a deal until the end of the season with an option to extend.
The vastly experienced full-back, who captained the Aberdeen club, didn’t miss a minute of action for Cove last season – and has almost 500 SPFL appearances to his name.
The 34-year-old started his career at Kilmarnock, but made his name with a lengthy spell at Alloa Athletic that included two promotions.
Premiership football with St Johnstone followed, before stints with Morton, Queen of the South, Falkirk, Queen’s Park and Hamilton Accies.
Last season he played 48 times for Cove Rangers, adding a further 25 appearances this season – but now he’s made the move closer to his central belt home and signed up at The Marbill Coaches Stadium.

Michael will wear the number 24 shirt and goes straight into the squad for this Saturday’s game with Forfar Athletic.
