CHAIRMAN John Steele has a message for our fans in view of today’s announcement that season 2019/20 has been suspended until further notice, due to the outbreak of COVID-19, otherwise known as coronavirus.
Dumbarton FC has today noted the decision by the Scottish football governing bodies to suspend season 2019/20, including tomorrow’s match against Falkirk.
While we are disappointed that tomorrow’s fixture will not take place, we realise that this is an unprecedented situation which is relevant to the health and wellbeing of us all.
This matters more than any game of football, and realistically the decision taken today was the only one possible.
We obviously will not receive the gate money that we expected to get tomorrow, and we await a decision on whether the fixture will take place at all.
Even though we are out of match action until we are told otherwise, your support remains vital to the club as much as ever.
We are currently in discussions about how to manage the situation during the enforced break, and will keep you posted on what our plans are and how you can be part of them.
In the meantime, while your scarves can stay on their pegs for the next while, we look forward to retaining your continued support. Your input remains hugely important.
Most of all, though, we hope you will stay safe and well as the COVID-19 outbreak continues to rule our day-to-day lives.
Best wishes.
John Steele
