DEFENDER Mark McLaughlin has today agreed terms with manager Ian Murray to become a Sons player.
The experienced centre-half was released by Morton on Christmas Eve and had been interesting a number of SPFL clubs including Airdrie and Annan Athletic.
But McLaughlin has opted to continue his career at the Bet Butler Stadium, a fact that pleases Murray.
He said: “It was disappointing to lose Aaron last week on his return to Sheffield United and we had a gap to fill in the team.
“Mark became available and he’s been training with us this week.”
Veteran McLaughlin played 34 times for Morton – his hometown club – last season and made 193 outings at Hamilton Accies beween 2004 and 2012.
Mark is available for tomorrow’s New Year clash against his old club with SPFL having granted clearance late this afternoon.
His squad number will be 5 and Chris Kane has been allocated 21.
