DEFENDER Ryan McGeever will be Dumbarton’s new club captain, with his central defensive colleague Gregor Buchanan becoming vice-captain.
Ryan joined the club in the 2019 close season, and has played 74 games for the club, scoring 10 goals.
He is currently preparing to return from a long-term injury which he sustained at Airdrie last season.
Midfielder Stuart Carswell, our longest-serving player by continuous service, had previously been captain, also since the 2019 close season.
He has captained us through some challenging times, and all at Dumbarton FC thank him for his contribution in this role. He retains a role as a key part of our squad for the season ahead.
Manager Stevie Farrell said: “The decision has been made to change the team captaincy and we congratulate Ryan and Gregor on their new roles.
“Gregor has captained us in our friendlies to date as Ryan steps up his recovery from injury. He is very keen to get back into action as captain.
“Stuart and I have had a positive chat about the way ahead and we will move forward from there. We thank him very much for being captain over the last three seasons.”
