Dumbarton boss Stevie Farrell had added to his squad ahead of tomorrow’s league opener with the addition of Matthew Shiels.
The 22-year-old will be a familiar face to Sons fans having played for the club in the 2019/20 season where he made nine appearances on loan from Rangers.
After his loan spell in G82 ended, Shiels appeared for Orange County and Clyde before spending the last two seasons at Hamilton Accies.
The former Scotland under-19 international can play anywhere on the left side of the pitch and boss Farrell believes he will be a positive acquisition.
He commented: “Matty has been training with us for a while and we have been impressed by him.
“He has gained good experience coming through the ranks at Rangers as well as playing in America and in the Championship in this country.
“Despite that, he is still very young and we are looking forward to seeing him fit in to our new system.
“Matty will offer us width and energy on the left side of the park and can provide competition for what is already a competitive group.”
Matty pens a one-year deal with the club and goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s fixture with Bonnyrigg Rose. He will wear number 22 in his time at The Rock.
Sponsorship opportunities remain available for Matty and the last few members of the squad. Contact office@dumbartonfc.co.uk.
