Dumbarton play their final game of 2023 tomorrow when they travel to Stair Park to take on Stranraer [kick-off 3.00pm].
Sons will be looking for a response after last weeks disappointing outcome against Clyde whilst the Stair Park side aim to bounce book from a poor showing in the capital against Spartans when they suffered a 3-0 defeat.
Stevie Farrell’s side led 4-2 going into the closing minutes of the Bully Wee clash before two injury-time goals grabbed the visitors a point and the Sons boss has called on his side to quickly put it behind them.
He said: “If you score four goals in any fixture you should be winning but we let ourselves down in the final minutes last week.
“The positive is we are scoring plenty of goals, but conceding six in two games and giving away a penalty in each of those is something that needs to be addressed and we were working hard to do that over the Festive period.
“As for tomorrow, Stranraer are a very capable side and we know we need to sharpen up defensively if we want a successful outcome.
“We have had a few setbacks this week in terms of player availability but I have a talented squad to choose from and remain confident in whoever pulls a jersey on.”
The sides have met just once this season with Dumbarton coming out 3-1 winners at the Rock in September. Ben Armour put the away side ahead but Sons responded through Tony Wallace, Ryan Wallace and Michael Ruth to earn three points.
In injury news, Greig Young, Brett Long and Callum Wilson remain sidelined whilst Kalvin Orsi hasn’t recovered from the knock he picked up last week and Ross MacLean is ill. There is also bad news on the Mark Durnan front as the Sons skipper broke down at training on Thursday evening as he looked for a return from injury.
Supporters making the trip tomorrow can pay at the gate with adults paying £15, concessions £10 and youths £5. Sons fans are also invited to enjoy the Pavillion Bar from 1.00pm, located just outside Stair Park.
The Sons Supporters Trust Travel Group bus departs Dumbarton Church street at 10.30am. Sonstrust members and under-16’s pay £22 whilst non-members pay £25. Contact Gillie Brough on 07948 532539 or on Facebook Messenger to book or for more information.
Tomorrow’s referee is Alex Shepherd and he will be assisted by Scott Anderson and Steven McKay.
