Dumbarton make the journey to Palmerston for the second time this season tomorrow afternoon as they travel to face Queen of the South in League One action [kick-off 3:00pm].
Sons suffered their first league defeat of the season last weekend as they went down 1-0 to Montrose at the Marbill Coaches Stadium, thought were left scratching their heads at full-time how they hadn’t gained at least a point.
Tomorrow’s hosts, meanwhile, drew 0-0 against Stenhousemuir on Saturday and will be looking to build on an impressive start to the season that sees them occupy third place.
The sides have met once already this season, with Queen of the South running out 2-0 winners in a Premier Sports Cup tie in July.
Dumbarton manager Stevie Farrell couldn’t believe his troops didn’t pick up any points last weekend, and whilst his side are still chasing their first win of the league season, he remains adamant that three points is around the corner.
Speaking to the clubs website, he said: “In my managerial career at any level, last weekend it is the biggest doing we have ever given a team. They were in our box once and had one shot.
“We’re second bottom of the league and the reality is we don’t deserve to be, we should probably be in the top four.
“I’d be more worried if the performances weren’t there – we’ve come into League One and we are a different animal to what we were last time we were here.
“If we keep playing and keep believing in our journey then we will pick up points, there’s no doubt about it.
“Tomorrow presents a very difficult game against a side who have started the season well, but if we continue to work hard and do all the things we have been doing, then we know we can have a succesful season.”
The Sons boss reports a clean bill of health for his side with no suspensions giving him a full squad to choose from.
