Dumbarton make the long journey to Balmoor this evening as they look to get back their season back on track in a re-scheduled cinch League Two fixture with Peterhead [kick-off 7.45pm].
A 2-1 defeat to East Fife on Saturday resulted in Sons falling to fourth in the division as they look to get back into the top two with a victory up north.
The hosts are far from firing at all cylinders themselves having lost their last three games as just two points seperate the sides heading into tonights contest.
Boss Stevie Farrell was disappointed with the first-half performance against the Fifers but feels like his side done enough to get something out of the game as he challenged his troops to go on another run of positive results.
Speaking to the clubs website, he said: “We were so far off it in the first-half on Saturday but after the second-half I think we deserved something more.
“You go through phases in football where you lose an early goal, or one right after half-time, or goals from corners, but we are going through a phase where we score and then become vulnerable which has happened in the last three games. It’s up to me and the coaching staff to work with the players to stop that happening.
“We’ve been beaten twice in the last nine games but we need to get back on track and that needs to happen tonight.
“If we can put in a performance like the one we did in the second-half on Saturday then we’ll beat most teams.
“There’s no reason why we can’t go on another good run like we have done already this season.”
The sides have met just once this season when the Blue Toon left Dumbarton with all three points in September thanks to a late goal from Hamish Ritchie.
In team news, Brett Long, Mark Durnan, Greig Young and Callum Wilson remain sidelined. They are joined by Ross MacLean who misses out due to work commitments whilst Finlay Gray is recovering from illness and may also be absent.
For supporters making the journey, please note there is NO cash turnstiles. Tickets can be bought from the ticket office prior to kick-off or in advance at the following link: https://www.peterheadfc.co.uk/online-tickets/.
As this is a re-scheduled fixture, if you bought tickets for the original fixture last month you do not need to purchase again. Your ticket remains valid.
The social club will also be open for visiting fans to make use of the facilities pre-match.
Tonight’s referee is Stewart Luke and he will be assisted by Paul McAvinue and Kevin Buchanan.
