DUMBARTON face newly promoted SPL side Partick Thistle in tomorrow’s friendly at the Bet Butler Stadium.
The game will provide a decent challenge for both sets of players – with Sons looking to make a good start to their First Division campaign, and the Jags wanting to prove themselves in the top flight of Scottish football.
The match is a repeat of the final fixture of the 2012/13 league season, when newly crowned champions Thistle played out a 0-0 draw with resurgent Dumbarton in front of 1,528 fans.
With a sunny day predicted, we anticipate another good turnout tomorrow for what should proved an entertaining encounter.
On Tuesday night Sons go on the road again with a game against Brechin City, to be played at the University of Stirling playing fields.
Gaffer Ian Murray commented this morning: “Having two games over the next few days will be a test. It will help us to gauge what we need to do over the next couple of weeks.
“It’s been a positive pre-season so far, and a good couple of weeks working with the players in preparation for our league and cup campaigns.
“We’ve had 21 or 22 sessions so far since we got back together. For a part-time team it’s important to put what work in you can when you know you’re going to be facing full-timers.”
Team News: Nicky Phinn will be in the squad again as a trialist for this game.
Admission Prices: Season tickets for tomorrow’s game are NOT valid and entry prices are as follows: £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.
Supporters Bar: The usual facilities for Sons fans will be available from 1pm. Sonstrust members can also renew their shareholding for the season ahead.
Match Hospitality 13/14: Packages are available for the season ahead, with prices starting at £40 per person. Contact Alan Findlay for further details.
Sons View: Due to holidays and printers schedules, it has regrettably NOT been possible to produce an edition of the match day magazine for this fixture. However, the immediate post-game web summary will be in operation – with the full match report and photos to follow, as usual.
