Dumbarton make the trip to New Central Park for the first time tomorrow as Kelty Hearts await for a William Hill League One fixture [kick-off 3:00pm].
The sides have met just twice in their history, both of which took place in G82 – a Tunnock’s Challenge Cup tie last season which ended 3-1 to the visitors and a league meeting earlier on in the 2024/25 campaign where both sides earned a point in a 2-2 draw.
Sons will be looking for a response after last weeks 3-0 home defeat to Cove Rangers brought an end to consecutive victories, though it could have been a different story had the hosts took their chances when they were on top in the first-half.
Kelty will also be looking to get back to winning ways having gone three games with victory after defeats to Montrose and Stenhousemuir before last weeks draw with Inverness in the Highlands.
A win for Dumbarton will see them move just a point behind Kelty in a League One table that remains tightly packed, and boss Stevie Farrell knows that if his side turn up for 90-minutes then they have a great chance of securing three points.
Speaking last week, he said: “Our spell last week was 45-minutes of the first-half and it could have been 3 or 4-0 but credit to Cove, they found a way to stay in the game.
“Their spell was 10-minutes at the start of the second-half and we find ourselves 2-0 down, and that’s the difference.
“The two weeks before the Cove game we were excellent and deserved our three points in those games and in the first-half on Saturday we were excellent but in the second-half we were poor and deserved what we got.
“It goes to prove how brutal League One can be but we know if we can put on the level of performance that we showed in the first-half against Cove, then we are a match for any side in the division.”
Farrell welcomes back Carlo Pignatiello to his squad tomorrow afternoon but will be without Matty Shiels, who picked up a groin injury against Cove last weekend.
