Dumbarton make the journey to The Toon tomorrow as they head south of the border to face Hebburn Town in a pre-season friendly as part of the Macron Cup [kick-off 2:00pm].

Sons played host to The Hornets last season, with Hebburn now returning the favour on their patch tomorrow afternoon.

Daniel Moore’s troops were 3-2 winners at the Rock ahead of the 2023/24 campaign with both sides going on to earn promotion as Hebburn were crowned champions of the Northern Premier League Division One East last season.

The fixture is the final run out for Dumbarton ahead of the competitive action starting next weekend and boss Frank McKeown is keen to build on two encouraging performances so far.

Speaking to the clubs website, he said: “We’re satisfied with how things are going – pre-season isn’t about results, but about getting the legs moving, working on a few things and welcoming new players into the team.

“On that front, it has been incredibly positive and we are already starting to see signs of what we have been working on at training coming to fruition on the pitch.

“Competition for places is incredibly high throughout the squad and tomorrow will be the last chance for some players to stake their claim before the Premier Sports Cup next weekend.

“I know there’s a lot of supporters making the journey down and making a weekend of it so we hope they have a safe journey and look forward to seeing them all there.”

In team news, Ryan Blair will miss out as a precaution after going off against Glenafton during the week. Tony Wallace trained during the week but is absent due to a family holiday. Panos Grivas will travel from the under-20’s squad alongside three Trialists who have featured in recent weeks.
