Dumbarton will look to provide one of the all-time great Scottish Cup upsets tomorrow evening when they host Rangers in the fourth round of the competition [kick-off 5.30pm].

Please note there will be a pitch inspection at 1.00pm tomorrow afternoon to determine whether or not the game goes ahead.

Sons will host the Ibrox side in front of a sell-out crowd, and broadcast across the nation on television, at the Rock after a memorable run in the Cup so far that has witnessed 14 goals across victories over Banks O’Dee and Annan Athletic.

The Premiership side have recently been on a Winter break and enjoyed a warm weather training camp in Spain whilst Dumbarton made the journey to Bonnyrigg last weekend – but boss Stevie Farrell insists his troops are ready.

Speaking in the build-up to Saturday, he said: “Rangers are stacked with talent and international quality players through the squad so we are fully aware of the task in hand but it’s one we are all looking forward too.

“It’s been a different week for the players with all of the media attention that comes with games like this but they have trained well and remained focussed. They have earned this opportunity with their exploits in the competition so far.

“There are certain things we can use to our favour and we will certainly approach the game with a plan in mind.

“Could we potentially on Saturday get the biggest result in Dumbarton’s history? You never say never in football.

“If there weren’t shocks in football we wouldn’t build it up as much as we do. There are shocks in football. We have just got to hope that potentially on Saturday there is another one.”

In team news, Brett Long, Mark Durnan, Greig Young and Callum Wilson remain sidelined. Also ineligible are Jay Hogarth, Cian Newbury and Marc Kelly.

As noted, tomorrow’s game is sold out for both general seating and in hospitality. Please do not attend the Dumbarton Football Stadium if you do not have a ticket. Those with a ticket are advised to arrive early in anticipation of queuing at the turnstiles.

You can still follow the action, however, with the game being broadcast on Viaplay Sports. Follow their user guide at this link:

As a result of our increased and sold-out hospitality, please note that Bar 72 will not be open before or after tomorrow’s match.

Tomorrow’s referee is Alan Muir and he will be assisted by Sean Carr and Graham McNeillie. The Fourth Official is Steven Kirkland.
